A long history of Hereford breeding . Running an early Australian Simmental herd through the 1970’s. Now primarily breeding Angus and Poll Hereford cattle that thrive on the South Killanoola improved pastures.
Stress free livestock management of all animals on South Killanoola is taken very seriously. Along with biosecurity awareness and the adaptation of efficient and ethically approved farming practices. Staff are encouraged to practice and further their knowledge of the latest farming skills.
Flock currently consisting primarily of Composite, Highlander and Merino ewes.
The SK flock has evolved over many years and has had many influences. New managers, profitability, expansion of cropping and new genetic variations have contributed. The one constant has been the environment and the wet winters of the Bool Lagoon area.
Lambing in late June after scanning to determine flocks of twin or single offspring.
Shearing is contracted and the main shearing takes place in October in our modern five stand raised board shed.
